REP. REID RIBBLE VOTES YES ON HR-2 HEALTHCARE LAW REPEAL
--Ribble Says House Must Move Now to Replace Law with Effective Reforms--
Washington, D.C. –Congressman Reid Ribble today released the following statement regarding his vote on HR-2, the Healthcare Law Repeal.
“Today I voted Yes on HR-2 the Healthcare Law Repeal. It was a promise I made to my constituents and it’s one of the main reasons I came to Washington. The current Healthcare Law is simply too expensive. It doesn’t accomplish the complete reforms our system needs, and is a great example of Government gone wrong.
“Of course, that doesn’t mean every single idea in this bill was bad, or that Republicans oppose all reforms. There exist certain parts of the bill that I do support and will work toward. Keeping the creation of high-risk pools for patients with pre-existing conditions is one such exemption, as is allowing children to remain under their parents’ insurance for a longer period of time. Those are ideas with merit that I support.
“We need to reform healthcare but we need to actually implement a law that will fix our biggest problems, not make them worse. The law raises taxes by $500 billion over ten years and would severely restrict our country’s job growth. If fully implemented, this law will cost approximately $2.6 trillion and increase the deficit by $701 billion.
“We all want to reform healthcare, and we intend to begin that process immediately. No one believes that a return to the status quo is an acceptable option. But the implementation of the Healthcare bill is bad for jobs, businesses and families and that is why I voted today for its repeal.”
