Ribble: 113th Congress Should Mark the Start of New Beginnings

Jan 3, 2013

Washington, DC—Representative Reid Ribble (WI-08) released the following statement on the start of the 113th Congress.

“Today marks the start of the 113th Congress, and I hope that it also marks the start of new beginnings.  Changes need to be made in Washington, from comprehensive tax reform to reining in the federal debt with substantial spending cuts, and it will take every member of Congress to put country before politics in order to accomplish these feats. I will continue the work that I started in the 112th Congress and most importantly I will represent the people of northeast Wisconsin the best that I can and put their interests first.

“The past couple of years in Washington have seen more fighting than problem solving. It’s time to stop the bickering and start working on solutions that will fix the economic problems facing our nation. I do not want to be part of a Congress that initiated the downfall of our country because Democrats and Republicans can’t have a grown-up conversation. I cofounded the Fix Congress Now Caucus last year with both Republican and Democratic colleagues who shared my belief that a little civility goes a long way and I will continue to legislate by this mantra throughout the next two years.  I believe that if we can change the tone in Washington we can accomplish great things and ensure a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.”
