Ribble Statment on Kewaunee Power Station Shut Down

Oct 22, 2012 Issues: Energy

“It was disheartening to learn that Kewaunee Power Station will be shutting its doors next year. This company not only provides important services to more than one hundred thousand homes in northeast Wisconsin, but also employs many people as well. It is never easy to hear about a plant shutting down because it means that people will lose their jobs. I’ve spent much of my first term in Congress working on pro-growth legislation that would boost the economy and create jobs. It has been frustrating to see these items stall in the Senate and today's announcement by Dominion only reinforces the need to get the nation’s economy moving again.
“This is an unfortunate loss for Kewanee County, which is a microcosm of what is happening throughout the entire country. I will continue to make it a priority in Congress to work on policies that will spur economic growth instead of limit it and expand opportunities for all Americans.”
