Ribble Statement on Passage of House Budget

Mar 21, 2013 Issues: Budget, Jobs and the Economy

Washington, DC—Representative Reid Ribble (WI-08), a member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement on the passage of the FY2014 House Budget Resolution. The budget passed on a vote of 221-207.

“The House plan not only balances the budget and protects the vulnerable, it will boost economic growth. Economists have reported that this budget will create almost two million new jobs and increase the average American family’s income by $4,000 over the next ten years. The balanced approach in the House plan will change the status quo in Washington by making Congress operate under a budget framework that leaves our kids and grandkids with more opportunities instead of more debt.

“Every penny our government spends is a statement about our country’s priorities, which is why we must make sensible reforms, while ensuring every citizen receives the benefits they deserve. This balanced budget will improve our economy, create new jobs, and protect our most vulnerable citizens by increasing Veterans, Medicare and Social Security spending over the next decade.”
